The Medical & Surgical Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients in the inpatient ward while ensuring compliance with clinical standards, hospital policies, and patient safety protocols. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Medical & Surgical ward.
Monitor and assess patients’ conditions, vital signs, and progress throughout hospitalization.
Administer medications and treatments accurately in accordance with physician orders and nursing protocols.
Assist doctors during examinations, procedures, and emergency situations.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nursing assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes.
Educate patients and family members on treatment plans, post-discharge care, and health management.
Ensure adherence to infection control, patient safety, and quality assurance standards.
Coordinate with allied health professionals and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care.
Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies and changes in patient condition.
Support ward operations, including inventory management and equipment checks.
Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and nursing education programs.
Mentor junior nurses and healthcare assistants when required.
Requirements
Degree or Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
Registered with the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB).
Minimum 1–2 years of relevant nursing experience in Medical & Surgical wards preferred.
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Able to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
Comfortable working rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Basic computer literacy and familiarity with electronic medical records systems.
Certification in BCLS preferred; ACLS certification is an added advantage.
Prior experience in private healthcare or premium service environments preferred
